Claire's Story
From broken to healed, what was it that made the difference?
Claire is a resident with our partners, Lighthouse Homes and this is her story ...
"Before coming to the Women’s Lighthouse I was a mess; I was completely broken, spiritually and mentally. Twenty five years of living with depression and anxiety had brought me to a place where I could not see any point in living any more. I tried to take my own life with a massive overdose, on top of all of that I found myself homeless, which is how I ended up at the Lighthouse.
When I arrived, I could see that there was something very different about the place and despite my initial resistance, I began to receive the message of Jesus Christ. I gave my life to Jesus and was baptised on Easter Sunday 2018, and I've never looked back.
The Lighthouse is such a special place to me that has enabled me to heal emotionally, mentally and spiritually – with the help of the very special people who work there- they care about, and support, all the residents who walk through the doors.
Therapy will teach you coping mechanisms to help you deal with your problems, but through the Lighthouse I have been delivered from all my problems. With the continued help and support of the Lighthouse I am working through the issues in my life that caused me problems in the first place, I can truthfully say that if it wasn’t for the Lighthouse I would not be alive today to write this.
I owe so much to the Women’s Lighthouse for taking me in and giving me a chance, especially after I had given up on myself. My life now is truly blessed and I consider it a privilege to even be able to say that I am a part of such a wonderful project."
